Blasting Procedure
Our steel blasters handle all cylinder types and sizes. Our process ensures each unit is clearly marked, scraped, blasted, de-valved, and thoroughly inspected.
Midwest utilizes steel blasters capable of blasting all types and sizes of cylinders. Ranging from high pressure 2 ½lb to 6000 PSI cylinders, low pressure 20lb propane to 100lb propane, and acetylene cylinders as well.
The steps we follow to ensure proper tracking and safety are as follows:
- Each cylinder must be clearly marked on the neck ring prior to blasting. The required markings include:
- Gas Service
- Company Number
- Procedure:
- Scraping – The cylinder is manually scraped to remove surface debris.
- Blasting – The cylinder is loaded into the blaster to remove all paint.
- De-valving & Inspection – After blasting, the cylinder is de-valved and undergoes a thorough internal and external visual inspection to ensure it meets safety and compliance standards.
